A public health crisis demands public health leadership. Primary care physician and candidate for TX-10, Dr. Pritesh Gandhi is running for Congress while also running a community health clinic on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic in Texas. If elected, he’ll be the first Asian American representing Texas in Congress, and one of only a few physicians with COVID-19experience.
Houston born, first-generation American, Dr. Gandhi has spent his professional life serving the underserved and uninsured.
Their stories have motivated him to step into political work alongside his medical work - from advocating for paid sick leave, fighting for separated families at the border, testifying at the Capitol to improve access to mental health screenings, and building systems to address region-wide social and political determinants of health.
When COVID-19 first reared in Texas earlier this year, Dr. Gandhi left the campaign trail and returned to his clinic nearly full time. He is working around the clock to care for his patients and then working beyond the clock to run for the U.S. House. This is a leader who will do whatever it takes to serve those who need it most. And we need his expertise in Congress now more than ever.
